Inanga Rose was born in Canberra, Australia, in 1967. When she was seven years old her family immigrated to New Zealand. They bought land in Mangaroa Valley not far from Upper Hutt, Wellington.
Clean, warm Australian suburbia was exchanged for cold temperatures, mud, pet lambs, ducks, geese, gorse, nut trees and a stubborn pony. Heaven.
Bought up in a musical environment both Inanga's sisters studied classical piano and cello. Sofia Marita, currently completing her P.H.D. in composition in Australia. Lisa (www.lisaheath.net) , the eldest, studying classical Chinese instruments and jazz singing whilst working as a patent attorney in China.
As girls the trio often wrote songs and performed concerts for guests at their home. All three sisters were part of the Chilton St. James School Choir. Inanga went on to join the Dunedin N.Z. Youth Choir and sing Barbershop, Tazie and World Music which is a passion she and Shelly share. (It was through Shelly running World Music Singing that Inanga met her husband Bear!)
You’ll hear 6 distinct song styles on this C.D. Inanga already has two more complete C.Ds of work ready for recording.
Inanga trained in Fine Arts and went on to teach at the Whitireia Polytechnic for 12 years also running her own private classes in painting, portraiture, life drawing, drawing and ferro cement sculpting. She is now full time in her studio pouring paint, melting polystyrene and exploring art incorporating multi media including small (dead!) animals in resin.
She is a writer, a landscaper and runs a home clinic as a Shaman. (www.olinkaenergy.com)
